Late birthday gift for *FreyFox
Here are the gearhead red squirrel twins from his Transmission webcomic, Reggie (left) and Russell (right), and their (well, Russell's) '67 Plymouth GTX!
Finally, I drew a car in a top perspective view!To those of you who aren't familiar with the webcomic;
"It features twin red squirrel gearheads Russ and Reg [who moved] away from their failing business in England and to a garage they inherited in California." So, yeah. They're a couple of Brits who migrated to the US to run their business, and they would have to deal with the culture of the Americans. It's almost like Rocko's Modern Life, except that there are 2 main-focus characters, the characters already have a career, there are gearhead references/lingo, and it's more mature.
Check it! [link]
Apparently, I've read most of the webcomic. I always imagine Russ being voiced by Richard Hammond (Yeah, he's done voice-acting on an animated short
), and Reg being voiced by... I guess, Jason Marsden.
This has got to be the most time-consuming gift-art I've ever done. It took me more than 12 hours.
Most of my efforts are from drawing the car and fixing a bit of its perspective. You know how I do my cars; F*CKING DETAILED. I didn't use Photoshop for the lineart, I used PaintTool SAI.Gearhead talk coming through...
Based on my research, the "GTX" logo on the Plymouth GTX's front grille doesn't show up until the '68-'70 model (2nd generation). Russ's GTX is a '67 model (1st generation)... Despite that, Russ's GTX in the original webcomic has the GTX logo on the grille... on all appearances. It was probably done on purpose, so I didn't copy every detail of the actual GTX and stick with the original artist's interpretation of the car.
Anyways, belated happy birthday, DUDE! Hope you'll like it. I EXERTED A LOT OF EFFORT THERE.
We should talk about cars more often...
